Tour de Delta stage 1

The race course has always been one of my favorite in the series even though hills typically don’t favor me, I enjoy the steady hard pace of this race. You drill for half of the lap, relax for the other, and the hill isn’t steep enough to give me problems  – just a steady 45s efforts 40 times. That being said, we as a team decided if we’re together near the end, guys would help to keep me in good position for final lap blast in this race and I will return the favor in other races. Myself and Kevin connected on the final 6 laps and he did a superb job keeping me in top 10. On the final time up the hill things got a little hectic when front group fanned out for a moment in hesitation, and I impulsively left the good wheel of team Garneau’s train by following an attack on the side, which eventually faded forcing me to jump wheels and sprint around fading riders in chaos all the way to finish line. I squeezed to finish 6th in the bunch behind Ryan Roth’s solo win. Finishing with juice still left in the legs, I realized I didn’t time it right, but it was good indication that I’ve finally achieved some good form since the early spring. Sadly, little did I know that a bit of sore throat I felt for few days will turn into a massive cold by next morning crushing my dreams and expectations of getting much needed results this week. Womp womp, such is life of a cyclist… I’m sure Chris Froome would have more profanities to say than I however after today’s Stage 5 of the Tour…
