After a 38 hour road trip over one week ago traveling from Toronto to Tucson Arizona. It was quite the trip down from crazy rain storms to a blizzard and to New Mexico nice weather but nothing to look at other than the dessert fields. Now if you had asked me if I would road trip again during the drive probably would said Hell no but now think about it, it wasn’t that bad!!

We also met some interesting characters like these guys from McDonalds we stopped at in Oklahoma. They had never seen Canadian currency.

On the drive down we were able to occupy our time by play Citadels card game I think in the 15 times we played on the way down, I didn’t win once. By the end of the trip I ready to throw the stupid game out the window!!!

Tip 1 for people: That was learned very early in this camp for me is to listen to your body.

In the first two days of riding I ended up hurting my knee even though I wanted to push through the pain and just continue training, but I knew that if I did, there was a good chance that I would of probably made it worse. So I decide to take a couple days of easy riding, stretching and looking over the position. Lucky enough by the start of the weekend I able to go and throw down some solid days.

Tip 2 for people: If you ever come to dessert to live for a bit. Make sure to wear SUNSCREEN!!!! I think in the three years I’ve been coming here to train I always forget and pay the price by end of the first week. You think I would have learned my lesson by now.

On Saturday Yuri and Anton went and did the Shootout. Anton getting his race legs back from Costa Rica he was able to pull out the win. For those who don’t know what the shootout is it’s like the Donut ride in Toronto but like 2 or 3 times bigger!! Roth and I decide to go ride up Mt. Lemon instead.

With quite a few Ontario and Canadian riders in Tucson we all joined up together on Sunday for a little easy 24mile climb up Mt. Lemon.
